"There's a reality in the lives of people with disabilities, that they are more vulnerable to bad things happening to them, they've had more bad things happen to them, and that they need other people to be protectors from harm and advocates for more richness and more opportunity in life."

~from extended interviews from the documentary "Valuing Lives: Wolf Wolfensberger and the Principle of Normalization." This selection of interviews explores Citizen Advocacy.

©North Platte Citizen Advocacy, Inc, a 501c3 nonprofit organization. The mission of Citizen Advocacy is to promote the protection of and advocacy for people who are devalued, usually due to a mental, physical, and/or developmental disability. Citizen Advocacy programs bring the needs and interests of an individual who is at risk of social isolation to the attention of a citizen who will respond to these needs through a freely given, usually long lasting advocacy relationship. We consult with Disability Rights Nebraska about program development, evaluation, and training for board members and staff.
