Good Things In Life Podcast: Medical Safeguarding

Writer's picture: Coordinator, Citizen AdvocacyCoordinator, Citizen Advocacy

Medical safeguarding of vulnerable people leaves us feeling vulnerable, too. In November, the sister of Good Things in Life host Genia Stephen was admitted to the intensive care unit and Genia has been supporting her in the hospital ever since. In this podcast, Genia reflects on her sister’s experience of being a hospital patient and her own role as a medical advocate. It’s just as important now as it has always been to make sure we remain strong advocates for our loved ones with disabilities. Medical safeguarding of vulnerable hospital patients can make the difference between life and death. Listen here:

©North Platte Citizen Advocacy, Inc, a 501c3 nonprofit organization. The mission of Citizen Advocacy is to promote the protection of and advocacy for people who are devalued, usually due to a mental, physical, and/or developmental disability. Citizen Advocacy programs bring the needs and interests of an individual who is at risk of social isolation to the attention of a citizen who will respond to these needs through a freely given, usually long lasting advocacy relationship. We consult with Disability Rights Nebraska about program development, evaluation, and training for board members and staff.
